Where I'm Going
You may have noticed that it's been quite a while since I last posted.
We are, in fact, safely back in the U.S. Erika went on her road trip to the east coast at the end of summer with her friend Lee Fenzel and our younger brother Micah. I wasn't able to go as I got a job at a small, local bakery and couldn't take a month off a month after starting, unlike Erika's job in Thailand.
One of the reasons it's been so long, I'll blame it on, is because this blog is called 'Where Kristen's Going' and currently I don't know where I am going.
People are continually asking what my next trip will be and I can only shrug. I'm at a point where I have less funds than are required for in depth travel, I have a job that I've only been at for roughly five months and to top it off I'm afraid it might be about time I started some schooling and figured out a bit of a plan for my life instead of jumping between desires.
Not to worry, I will travel still, it just might be a while so I've decided in the meantime you might as well know where I'm going directional wise until then.
I am working at a bakery and it's quite educational, if not in how to make different kinds of pastries, breakfast goods, cookies and pies than in how to deal with frustrating and crazy coworkers and employers. (In the words of my dad 'welcome to the real world'.)
Erika is using her teaching skills to home school our younger brother in his senior year of high school and now our sixteen year old cousin, Jewel, has moved in with us for the semester to be home schooled by Erika as well. They've got a school room set up downstairs and you can hear them throughout the house as they watch 'The Ten Commandments' and practice their French. They are always telling us something new at dinner about sedimentary rock or the processes of bile which can be disgusting and/or illuminating.
So, that's all for now. Hopefully I'll remember to do this more often just in case someone wants to be entertained by my life thus far.
