Going Home

Dear All,
Ten days from today we fly home to Colorado.
I'm freaking out about it.
We're trying to getting everything done that we need to, seeing people for the last time, buying our last minute things, taking pictures of stuff we don't want to forget, having a party with the people at school, seeing our host family and the kids at the orphanage, finishing our scrapbooks and catching up on our journals. Yet it somehow seems like so much and that we won't be able to do it all.
It's odd wrapping up a life in one place and getting ready to begin again somewhere else.
That of course is one of the big stresses, returning to life back home. Figuring out our job situation and school applications.
E has another trip planned at the end of the summer, to the east coast for a wedding, that I would love to join her on but don't know if I'll be able to.
I'm turning twenty one which has disturbed me more than I thought it would (I find the prospect of becoming a full blown adult is rather disorienting).
Add to all of that the fact that we've been thinking of all the things we'll miss in Thailand once we go home and the list seems to get longer and longer the more we think about it. We're now eating fresh fruit as often as possible, we try and get down to our favorite roti lady on a regular basis and we're getting some clothes made as you can't get fruit at home the way you can here, we've never seen a roti stand in the States and you can't get anything custom made the way you can here and certainly not for the same price.
But we've also been thinking of all the things we'll appreciate about being home, not least of which is having more living space than one room or being able to speak to our family more than once a fortnight.
So, do pray for us if you think of it as we try and get used to the idea of leaving Thailand and then as we get used to being home again. The next few weeks are sure to be interesting.
Thank you for following along with me in all of my journeys so far overseas, who knows, maybe I'll be writing from another continent soon enough.
My love to you all, Kristen Rose
